Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has criticized Oshiomhole for suggesting that governors are to blame for electoral violence in the country.
Meanwhile, it is important to know that Oshiomhole had earlier claimed that the level of violence during the election period in the country was caused by the state governors.
Oshiomhole pointed out that many Governors secretly support the hoodlums and political thugs who disrupt the election exercise. He also alleged that the weapons that were used by the criminals were not easy to acquire.
The statement was released on Tuesday during a citizens engagement program that was organized by YIAGA Africa, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and Channels TV in partnership.
However, reacting to the claim made by Oshiomhole, Governor Okowa refuted the claim that governors participated in electoral violence and hired thugs to disrupt the voting process.
Okowa made the news available to the public while speaking through his Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu, who stated that he has never been involved in any electoral violence and will not be attached to such vices.
However, the Vice Presidential candidate for the People’ s Democratic Party, PDP, requested Oshiomhole to tell Nigerians if he did any of these things while he was serving as governor of Edo state.
