Doyin Okupe, a member of the labour party who was in the news barely 24 hours ago has reportedly vacated his position as the campaign director of the labour party candidate, Peter Obi.
The party chieftain was about 24 hours ago, sentenced to 2 years in prison after he was found guilty of breaching the law with an option of a fine. To avoid going to jail, the labour party chieftain was quick to pay the fine in other to avoid prosecution, and barely 24 hours later, the report revealed that he has tendered his resignation letter from the position of campaign DG of the labour party.
Weeks ago, the labour party chieftain was suspended from his party in Ogun state over allegations that he violated the law guiding the party in the state.
The national secretary of the labor party, Abayomi Arabambi announced the sack of Doyin Okupe on December 2. His statement reads ” With his crops of PDP dissidents political liabilities who are only using Labour Party to revive their not only irredeemable dead political and financial lives but has successfully stolen all that is available in LP. ”
” Therefore, in line with Article 19(3) of the Labour Party constitutional provision, we declare that Dr. Doyin Okupe, having failed in the payment of his membership dues for the last six months of joining the Party, has forfeited his membership of the Party and no longer fit and competent to continue to act as the DG of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC). “
