The family of a man identified as Abioye Waheed has been thrown into mourning after some suspected cultists ganged up to murder him and set his corpse on fire in Oshogbo, the capital city of Osun State.
Based on the information gathered by the newsmen, it was discovered that the deceased happens to be a Park revenue collector before some cult members of the Aiye confraternity ambushed and murdered him in cold blood.
Reports say that the cultists trailed the deceased until they captured and whisked him away to an unknown area where they tortured and later murdered him brutally.
It was reported that after the deceased had been abducted by the cultists, they chopped off his leg and then took him into the forest where he later gave up the ghost and they burnt his corpse.
While reacting to the incident, Opalola Yemisi who happens to be the Public Relations Officer of the Osun State Police Command verified the occurrence of the incident, adding that the command was alerted on Tuesday, 13th of December 2022 around 9: 40 pm that some gunmen dragged the remains of one man who was later identified as Waheed Abioye by his housewife to a dumping site located at Arikalamu area of Osogbo.
” We received the report of the incident and quickly dispatched our men to the scene of the incident. On getting to the scene, they found the body of Waheed burnt beyond recognition while his right leg was also chopped off. The Olorunda Local Government Area environmental agency to UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital Morgue has recovered the remains and placed them at the morgue. The inquiry has been launched into the matter to capture and prosecute the suspects, ” said Yemisi.
