The state of Minnesota, USA is celebrating its annual Wizkid Day today, October 6, 2022.
October 6 every year is set aside as Wizkid Day in the state in honour of the music star Wizkid, whose real name is Ayodeji Balogun.
The day was inaugurated in 2018 after Wizkid became the first African artist to sell out the Skyway Theatre Minneapolis.
In a proclamation signed by Mark Dayton, former Governor of Minnesota, he lauded Wizkid’s laudable achievements in music and for his role as a culture influencer.
Minnesota is located in the upper midwestern region of the United States.
Wizkid Makes HISTORY!
The 32-year-old singer fondly referred to as Big Wiz began recording music at the tender age of 11 when he released a collaborative album with the Glorious Five, a music group consisting of Wiz and a couple of friends from church.
As earlier stated, in 2009 he signed his first record label deal with Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) and would subsequently release his smash hit single ‘Holla at Your Boy’.
Wizkid released his first studio album ‘Superstar’ in 2011 featuring such songs as Holla At Your Boy which was the album’s lead single, Don’t Dull, Tease Me, Pakurumo and others.
