I’m Not Desperate But I’m Going To Win The Osun State Election – Labour Party Candidate, Yusuf Says
It is no longer news that the 2022 Osun State governorship election will take place on Saturday, July 16.
The incumbent governor who was nominated by his party will be slugging it out with other candidates including Yusuf Lasun, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party who left the All Progressives Congress and joined the Labour Party due to some perceived grievances.
It would be recalled that Yusuf Lasun was a Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. He contested in the APC governorship primaries on February 19, 2022 but he lost out to Oyetola in an exercise that was deemed controversial.
However, while addressing the audience during the Osun State governorship debate, the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yusuf Lasun alleged that his fallout with the leadership of the APC is because they are vindictive and they don’t allow other people to grow.
He said someone told him to his face that if he does not do their bidding, it will affect his future ambition.
He said the issue of indirect and direct primaries in APC came up because, they wanted to prevent him from becoming governor but he said he is going to win the election even though he’s not desperate.
“I was told to my face in 2015 by somebody who I will not mention his name on camera that if I do not listen to them, my future depends on it”
“The issue of direct and indirect primaries in Nigeria, in APC started because they wanted to prevent Lasun to become governor of Osun State and the fight between Aregbesola and Oyetola is traceable to the fact that I was denied to get the ticket of APC in 2018. They are only judging and so I’m not desperate, but this one, I’m going to win it”
