According to a report published by The Nation, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have distanced themselves and their security outfit, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), from the gruesome murder of the traditional ruler of Obudi Agwa in the Oguta Council area of Imo State.
IPOB issued a statement in which its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, warned the police in the state not to mislead the public.
But the group also asked the authorities to do a thorough investigation of what happened and find out who did it.
The separatist group expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased as well as the families of those who had been murdered in cold blood in the area. They also told traditional and religious leaders in the area to take more steps to protect themselves.
The following is an excerpt from the statement: ” HRH Eze (Dr. ) Ignatius Asor of Obudi Agwa of Oguta had no problem with IPOB and ESN. IPOB and ESN have a policy of not killing our own. ”
” IPOB has no hand in this barbarism, and we cannot be involved in the killing of innocent citizens of Biafra, whom we are willing to die and go to prison to save, ” the statement read.
” We extend our condolences to the families of the monarch and the others who were brutally killed at Obudi Agwa in Oguta Local Government Area, Imo State. “
