Kuje Prison Attack: One suspect reportedly caught after hot chase by gallant officers
On Tuesday night, the Nigeria Correctional Service, led by Comptroller General Haliru Nababa, captured a suspect terrorist in connection with the attack on the medium-security detention center in Kuje, Abuja.
The suspect, who claimed to be a member of the DSS, was captured by NCS agents near Kwali after a high-speed pursuit.
On Wednesday morning, the suspect was apprehended and reportedly sent to a secret detention facility, where he is reportedly awaiting trial.
In an exclusive conversation with Vanguard at the Kuje medium security detention center, a trustworthy security source who spoke in confidence revealed this information.
According to him, the suspect looked to have a comprehensive understanding of the area surrounding the detention center.
In describing how the suspect was apprehended, he stated, “This morning, officers were mobilized and tasked with combing the bushes and forests surrounding the detention center for any evidence of the terrorists responsible for the attack.”
Because we knew that the terrorists entered Kuje via the Kwali Area Council, we expanded our search to include Kwali. Approximately 1 kilometer distant from the city, after the quarry, we spotted some folks wandering through the woods. ”
However, when they saw us, they immediately fled. However, we gave chase and arrested one of them after firing three rounds into the air from close range and threatening to execute him if he continued to flee.
The source, who provided additional information on what transpired during the attack, added, “Before the culprit was apprehended, he and his accomplices fled through the trees so deftly, demonstrating an exceptional command of the terrain.”
Farmers who encountered us after our capture said that the suspect had previously claimed to be a DSS agent on a special operation in the forest. Already he is supplying us with valuable information. ”
However, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Josephine Adeh, has yet to confirm the arrest because she has neither answered her phone nor responded to a message sent to her.
