Over 2,000 marathoners are expected to grace the 5th edition of Opobo Marathon in Rivers State.
In a statement jointly signed by the Project Lead of ConnectOpobo Ltd, Henry Cookey and Local Organising Committee (LOC) Chairman for the Marathon, Bright Ogolo, the duo disclosed that the 5th edition slated for January 5th, 2023 would accommodate more runners.
The registration for the Opobo Marathon 2023 will officially begin on Monday, November 21, 2022.
According to Cookey, registration for the marathon is free but participants are to register through the official website, www.opobomarathon.com beginning from November 21- December 30.
He disclosed that the Amanyanabo of Opobo, HRH King Dandeson Douglas Jaja would be the special guest, while also participating in the marathon.
“We are hoping to have more people participating in the marathon this time, hence the reason why we are conducting the registration electronically to enable us manage and prepare for the number of runners coming to Opobo Kingdom for the race.
