It was reported that Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the People’ s Democratic Party (PDP), has revealed a plan to start a campaign without aggrieved members of the party led by Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State.
Meanwhile, it is important to know that the People’ s Democratic Party (PDP) will launch its presidential campaign on Monday in Uyo, Akwa- Ibom State.
Recall that Atiku and Wike were at loggerheads with one another over efforts to remove Iyorchia Ayu from his position as national chairman of the party.
The source revealed that Atiku has decided to continue with his campaign despite the withdrawal of Wike, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeau, Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, former Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose.
According to a source who spoke with Vanguard, Atiku and his friends have decided to continue the campaigning even though Wike and his allies are not involved.
The source said, ” Let me tell you the truth. As far as the Wike matter is concerned there is an overwhelming sentiment that the campaign has moved on.
” So, if Wike or anyone in his camp shows the readiness of coming in, they will be accommodated but nobody is waiting for them again because they are not important enough to hurt the process. That is the honest, overwhelming impression.
