According to Vanguard News, Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’ s (LP) presidential candidate, has urged Nigerian voters to ignore disparities in ethnicity and religion during the next national elections.
Obi was described as asking electorate to vote for a patriotic Nigerian with the competence, ability, and character who would handle the socio- economic difficulties confronting the nation in a statement released in Abuja by the party’ s campaign spokesman, Dr. Yunusa Tanko.
The leading presidential contender spoke against the background of the uproar caused by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, making a speech in Kaduna.
Sadly, Abubakar said in a viral video that ” the north ought to pick a northerner rather than an Igbo or Yoruba candidate. ”
Recall that Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the candidate for the All Progressives Candidate (APC), had previously said that the Yoruba people will be producing the next president.
The statement continued that Obi is a Pan- Nigerian candidate who, by God’ s grace, has captured the attention of youths across the country and shifted their attention to better Nigerian projects.
The former governor of Anambra State observed that, regardless of their place of worship, ethnic background, or geographic region, all Nigerians were suffering from hunger, extreme unemployment, and poverty.
