The leadership of the Grand Alliance for Tinubu-Shettima 2023 (GATS-2023), an independent campaign organisation for the emergence of the the APC ticket of Tinubu-Shettima in the 2023 Presidential election has congratulated the newly elected President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Most Rev. Daniel Chukwudumebi Okoh.
In a statement in Abuja on Friday and signed by the Group’s Director General, Engr. Raji Kazeem Kolawole, the group urged him to use his tenure to promote religious peace and harmony in the country.
“The Grand Alliance for Tinubu-Shettima, 2023 (GATS-2023) joins other Nigerians in congratulating the newly elected President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Most Rev. Daniel Chukwudumebi Okoh who also doubles as the General Superintendent of Christ Holy Church (aka) Nation Builder.”
“His emergence follows the ratification of his election last night by the National Executive Council and General Assembly of the Association”, it stated.
“It is expected that the CAN under the new leadership will be committed as ever to the primary goal of the association.”
“The CAN being an umbrella organization containing numerous Christian denominations in Nigeria should live up to expectations of it’s primary functions to be a watch-dog of the spiritual and moral welfare of the nation and propagate the gospel.”, the group further stated.
“It is our belief that the new President, being an indigene of Rivers State but born and raised in Kano city, will understand and appreciate the dynamics of a multi-dimensional and complex society like Nigeria and bring his experience to bear in promoting national unity through religious harmony.”
The group, while also congratulating the immediate past president, Rev. Samson Olasupo Ayokunle, for a successful tenure in office is of strong hope that the new leadership will have a great working relationship with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima’s Presidency come May 29, 2023.
“Conclusively, while congratulating the immediate past president of the Association, His Eminence, Reverend Samson Olasupo Ayokunle for a successful tenure, it is our hope that the new leadership of Most Reverend Daniel Okoh will enjoy a highly robust working relationship in promoting religious harmony and peace to enhance National development and Progress with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima when they finally assume office in May, 2023 by the Grace of God,” it quoted.
