The remaining passengers who were kidnapped from the Kaduna- Abuja train on March 28, 2022, have been safely released, and President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his happiness over this development.
It was reported on Wednesday afternoon that the remaining 23 train passengers who were being held by terrorists for more than six months have finally regained their freedom.
The report revealed that the release of the remaining passengers was facilitated by the efforts of a seven- person Action Committee that had been put together by Chief of Defense Staff, Lucky Irabor.
On Wednesday evening, President Buhari issued a statement commending the military for the successful rescue of the remaining train hostages. The statement was signed by the President’ s Spokesman, Garba Shehu.
The President stated that the nation owed its gratitude to the armed forces as well as other security and intelligence agencies for the successful conduct of the operation.
He also expressed his happiness for the victims’ families for their loved ones that had recovered safe and sound, and he promised that his administration would keep up the fight against any acts of terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping until he leaves office.
