On Sunday, the G- 5 the five disgruntled governors of the Peoples Democratic Party announced the establishment of the Integrity Group within the opposition party, under the leadership of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and a few other party chieftains.
Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, and Samuel Ortom of Benue State are the other governors in the group.
A strategic discussion between the governors and a few disgruntled party members is currently taking place in Lagos, and it’ s possible that this meeting has some connection to the movement to have Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP’ s national chairman, removed from office.
Governor Makinde said in a statement to the media before entering a meeting behind closed doors that the Integrity Group continued to be the driving force behind the conflict within the PDP.
Makinde said, ” We are here this morning to hold a meeting of the Integrity Group within our party, the PDP. We have been of the G5 that is, the five PDP governors. The G5 is all about the Integrity Group.
” You can see us, five serving governors, as the face of this struggle, both the leaders and elders of the party that you see here are the people behind those faces.
” We are in the South- West to review the situation within our party, to review where we are and to also look at what is going to happen in the coming elections, ” he said.
